Design Research And Why It Might Be Useful in IT

After studying about design research I come to understand that it is the primary step that has been taken into consideration to start any kind of development or design. It is a basically a foundational step to assemble any service or system that respond to any particular social or beneficial work. It should not be overlooked it should applied thoroughly  .

I do believe it related to IT, good design is always hard to define. As in IT mostly design is based on knowledge or ideals that turns these knowledge into output that are valued to the people. So for learning the detail about these design the design research is the perfect way.

Analysis on 6 question

This week we been assign to apply our thinking on the 6 questions and finding an appropriate research approach for them plus  understand the outcomes so here they are:

1- Which of these two laptops gives the best performance?

Aim of this Question:

From this question what I come to understand is that it asking to compare  two laptop brand to find out the best one in performance. Now the comparison between these to machine may varies according to person to person. It also depend on the personal requirement as by taking that into mind, if I say, an IT professional who’s working somewhere as a graphical designer, he definitely want to compare them according to there performance outcome on the basis of graphical work.

Evidence:

For finding answer to this question I would search for a site or other source that do the benchmarking stuff for various electronic devices.

Research Approach

By studying the link provided in Res300 blog and (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qualitative_psychological_research)the best research approach that I find very helpful to find the right answer to this question is to go with Qualitative psychological research approach.

2- Are virtual worlds like Second Life useful for teaching?

Aim of this Question:

As this question demanding to explain whether there is a actual  need of second life teaching in the educational area or not. It also needs to be clear here whether the student wants it helpful or not as may or may be some or lots of student have there interest in studying the second life. Some of the university around the world already started there own virtual world for teaching purposes.

Evidence:

For getting answer to these type of question I probably looked for a documentation that have all the contained list of beneficial and non-beneficial  fact for virtual world for teaching.

Research approach:

The best way to take on these kind of question is to take a surveys on these kind of topic. As this is an inductive process, So for me the surveys are the right research approach for getting answer to these kind of question.

3- Why don’t many school students (16-18yrs old) choose to study IT at Polytechnic or University?

Aim of this Question:

This is basically asking to find out the reason why this realistic mainstream course can’t have much influence on many school student (16 -18 yrs old) choose to study IT at Polytechnic or university. Why they don’t opt the IT as a carrier path. Why don’t they take it as an exciting carrier option when there is so much to explore and to learn new thing all the time.

Evidence:

A detail point that properly listed out after been surveys conducted in the schools or in other educational centre that explain all the reasons why the student not found IT as a exciting carrier. Something like this

Research approach:

For these kind of survey I would like to do a face to face interview method with the school student and try to find out the reason out from them about they don’t want to take this carrier line. Down below is a an example of an research conducted in New Zealand between 2001 and 2006. 4- Which ISP in NZ gives the best value for money?

Aim of this Question:

This question is mainly focus on the customer satisfaction by a service provided by their selected vendor. Now there are lots of thing that matter in these sort of research as it may also fall into the various categories according to the customer need plus the service plan that they want to choose.

Evidence:

Collect all the vendor available in the market and selecting one of them after complete observation on the service provided by the vendor and then one other thing that matter here is about selection the right plan that suitable for customer need and give value for there money which is quite very important.

Research approach:

Now what I would like to do for finding justified answer for these sort of question is to do an observational research, qualitative and may be the telephonic survey are also useful.

5- How do I feel about trying to work with slow internet speeds?

Aim of this Question:

It is basically asking my reaction about working on a system with Slow speed, or what is the minimum speed I would like to have for my system to being  keep me out of the agitate state.

Evidence:

You get it best when I am working on some kind of dead speed system. Best define by my expression or word. 🙂

Research approach:

This question basically need a Self report research approach that’s what I think at this point of time as this is the most perfect research approach for this question. Because you are asking about a problem that individual is been facing due to some unpleasant circumstance concerning internet speed.

6- What are the main security issues associated with ‘cloud computing’ ?

Aim of this Question:

The negative part that make cloud computing not safe enough to utilize, what are the criticality of these security issue in other or simple word how you can measure these security issue in the scale of high and low. how much impact ful are they.

Evidence:

A report concerning on the security issue associated with cloud computing. It should have all the proper list security issue related areas in the cloud computing.

Research approach:

As security is a major issue with the cloud storage this is what my opinion is, it is probably something to do with it’s detail study so social scientific research is the best way to find out the major issue related with the cloud computing

Cloud are made up of millions of tiny droplets of water and ice, suspended in the atmosphere above the surface of the earth.

Since clouds are made out of the tiniest possible droplets of water and ice when pilots pass through them with their planes they do not see nothing but clouds.

Any planet or moon with an atmosphere has clouds but not all are composed of water and ice like on Earth, for instance Saturn has some clouds composed of droplets of liquid methane.

When we see white clouds in the sky this really means that we are looking at dense deep clouds that exhibit a high reflectance (70% to 95%) so they appear white.

Some scientists believe how the properties of clouds can help predict the upcoming climate change effects.

Clouds reflect a significant proportion of solar radiation back into space.

The lead generated by human activities is causing clouds to form at warmer temperatures, since the temperatures are warmer that means there is less water in the clouds. In years to come this trend could significantly alter the pattern of both rain and snow in a warmer world.

Scientists believe there is a strong link between the Sun, cosmic rays, aerosols, and liquid-water clouds.

Cumulonimbus are the biggest clouds, located at around 9.7 kilometers (6 miles) above us. These clouds are believe to hold up to half a million tons of water.

Stratus are low clouds, middle clouds are altostratus, and high clouds are cirrus.

Dark gray clouds that produces rain is called nimbostratus cloud, the name of this cloud comes from the latin word “Nimbo” meaning rain.

The puffy clouds we often see floating in a blue sky are called cumulus clouds.

The color of a cloud, as seen from our point of view (down at the earth), can tell us almost everything what is currently happening inside the cloud.

The beautiful reddish and orange clouds that occur at sunrise/sunset creating wonderful picture are the result of the scattering of sunlight by the atmosphere, and they are actually not that color but reflect long, not scattered rays of sunlight.

So the area that I am going to discuss is cloud storage which is a growing trend nowadays, it  refers to saving data to an off-site storage system maintained by a third party. Rather than storing it on your own computer you stored it on a remote storage and to access this storage you have to use internet connection.

These  space on remote storage are provide by the different hosting companies which offers a wider range of on-line storage space to the varies enterprises and also offer there service for an individual need.

These hosting companies offers a variety of data storage space and the consumers can buy or lease these storage space from these companies. After been allocated to  a storage space the consumer can completely use these space for there own storage use.
