What is Ontology and Epistemology?

What I come to know about Ontology after my reading  is, studying about any entity that’s out there in the social reality. All the assumptions and claims being made on that entity about it’s existence,  looks, components it made up of etc..

Relevant to research:

The ontology is completely relevant to research as every research is start with a question or assumption or Claims that a researcher do on any object on it’s existence. For example we can take a simple question “what come first  chicken or the Egg?” 🙂

Epistemology

Increasing or gaining knowledge about a particular subject is what epistemology is all about. It comprise of how and what is there to know about a particular subject.

Relevant to research:

It set the what matter primary and secondary in finding the relevant answers while doing a research.

Connection between ontology and epistemology in a research context

I think these two are completely relevant to each other in research.

As a research point of view the ontology is a complete assumption that a researcher assume for a entity there are no wrong or right because those are just assumption.

In Epistemology a researcher trying to find the base for these assumption.

Why are you doing this class?

The reason I am doing this class because in my previous semester I had done my PRJ301 course and meanwhile doing that course I encounter problem while searching answer for the question that I am specifically looking for. At the end I do get the solution for my problem but after a long research.

So I want to improve my research skill in this class which I am surely going to use in my future.
